Each year, the Saskatchewan School Boards Association awards two $3,000 scholarships to graduating Saskatchewan high school students:
- Degree Program Scholarship: $3,000
- Technical/Trade Program Scholarship: $3,000
A special thank you to AON for sponsoring the Degree Program Scholarship beginning in 2023 and Manulife for sponsoring the Technical/Trade Program Scholarship beginning in 2023.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of demonstrated good character, community leadership, financial need and a 500-word essay. The application deadline is Aug. 31 each year. Applicants must apply within 12 months of Grade 12 graduation.
Applications must include the following attachments:
- Attach a final statement of grade 12 marks from the Provincial Registrar that includes the Graduated Month, Year note on the statement. Applicants must apply within 12 months of Grade 12 graduation.
- Confirmation of enrolment in a post-secondary institution
- ESSAY: Attach an electronic copy of not more than 500 words of an original work on the following: Identify and provide an explanation of two things that you would change in the school system to better prepare you for the future.
- Completed Revenue/Expense Form which is included with this application form. The award is given primarily based on financial need.
- Are you applying for a student loan? (Yes/No). Please explain why or why not.
- If you have received an assessment letter from Student Loans, please attach that.
- REFERENCE: Attach a letter of reference from a school trustee or a school system representative (principal, counsellor, etc.). The Association requests reference to the stated selection criteria: evidence of good character, community leadership, and school leadership.
